Information about the seamless pattern generator

Introduction

The pattern generator allows you to create unique seamless backgrounds of varying complexity. You choose what will be taken as the basis for the image, you yourself adjust the arrangement of elements, size and color scheme.

Basic principle of operation

The principle of layer-by-layer use of images, which is used in most graphic editors, is taken as a basis. In one layer, you can place any element, for example, a strip or choose a pattern to fill. The number of such layers can be any and is not limited by anything.

Layer operations

Layers can be created, deleted. If there are more than two of them, then they can be moved up or down from the layer menu. At the moment it is possible to create layers of three types: Solid background, Stripes and Elements.

At any time, you can completely reset the configured pattern and start all over again. To do this, you need to use the Reset button. After that, the generator will return to its initial state.

Layer: Solid background

This is a regular layer filled with a certain color, which is specified in the parameters. When generator opened, the pattern has this particular layer by default. It is only needed to set the background for the pattern. It is necessary to take into account the fact that this layer must always be present in the pattern and is always in the first place. Therefore, it cannot be moved to another location or removed.

Layer: Stripes

In this layer, you can customize the display of various solid stripes. There can be several parallel ones in one layer. In the parameters of the layer, you can use stripes, change their thickness. And of course, you can choose a separate color for each stripe.

Layer: Elements

In this layer, you can customize various geometric elements. There are both simple and complex elements to choose from, as well as icons from Google Material and template icons. Elements can be combined and transformed. Placement of elements completely configures: the distance between elements in the pattern area, offset of elements, rotation angle, scaling.

General pattern settings

If more than two layers are specified, the general settings of the created pattern become available. These settings are applied to all added layers. You can change the rotation angle of the entire pattern, and zoom in or out.

Quick Color Adjustment

All used colors from all layers are also available in the bottom panel of the generator for quick access. You can change any available color of the pattern without naviagting to the layer where it is used.

Saving the pattern

The finished pattern can be downloaded using one of the methods. Any pattern can be saved in svg format. And there are some restrictions for using png format, since the generator allows you to create backgrounds of varying complexity, it is not always possible to save a created pattern in this format. If the layers use the rotation angles of the pattern area that are not multiples of 90 degrees, then the png format is not available. It is also not available if you wish to save the pattern as a single png file, which is made up of more than two layers.
